Of late I’ve been hearing a lot of people say they don’t want to repeat the same mistakes in life; they don’t wanna see themselves hurt again and things!Makes me wonder, what are they trying to say? Are they rejecting happiness because sad days follow it? Are they accepting sad phases when what follows is comfortable numbness?
Why doesn’t anybody say they want to be happy again? Why do they think doing the same things all over again will surely hurt them? Why are they learning lessons from somebody they anyways don’t think too high of now?
I mean how can you be full of hatred for a person and say “oh he/she taught me a lesson for life! I’m never gonna do this again”??
Is that person even worthy of learning something from?
Or do we believe- doing things differently & being restrained with other people who probably deserve to get the best from us, making them pay for somebody else’s deeds or totally different situations- not hurt us again?
Whoever said we should learn from our mistakes was such a boring guy! I’m sure all his girlfriends would have dumped him within 12 minutes of commiting, and rather than finding faults with himself, he concluded life is always the same and we should thus not do the same things to remain sane! :P
On a serious note (trying hard ;)) even if we were hurt in the past, didn’t the happy days outnumber the bad ones?? Things we call mistakes now, probably showed us our best times. Most of the times, our actions were what made us happy and not people!
So why not do things again with all your heart and be happy once more!! :)

nice thought. but a fear of rejection is a very powerful motivator. you have to be sure that this is something you want to do before you jump headlong into it. my ex was cheating on me even though i gave the relationship a 120%. but getting into a relationship after that was very difficult. i'll agree with what samby said. one wrong move makes you cautious. not a coward...

a few questions to the people you have referred to in your this post:
a. Do you stop driving after meeting an accident (if u haven't ever met with an accident, then you are a poor driver)?
b. Do you stop going to movies after watching one crap like "tashan"?
c. If in Mumbai, do u stop boarding the locals after getting mauled by the crowd in the 8 am local?
So the conclusion is, just go ahead and do things again and again as everytime the result will be pretty different!
I think learning from mistake does not mean that you stop doing things but you wud be extra cautious in doing that.. and if you are not u wud never improve ..its simple learn from what you have done and move on i dont think anything in this world can or should stop LIFE :)

What they don't realize is that whatever you've suffered, has become a part of you and rather than dwelling over it, you should probably work on making life better than it is currently.
And thats where you do small things which provide you fixed amounts of happiness (don't get skeptical here). i think that theres a minimum amount of happiness you can get from all the small things you do. so no matter how lousy you think the situation or a person is to have made you sad at any point of time. erasing it with small its of happiness is rather easy. All you gotta do, is a little bit of good. Hence, happiness is quantized...man...I'm not making any sense....I'm sleepy....ZzZzZzzzz.....

here is my contribution to the noise.
Only fools can expect different results repeating the same thing same way again and again. This sorta ppl sudn't hv a brain. A robot is far better than them in doing so. For a mistake of today, I won't stop acting. I may end up with the same negative consequence even with my 100 ways of different executions, but that's acceptable. But committing the same mistake the same way, it is certainly not progressive, rather regressive, nor bravery, rather stupidity.

Not getting into something that in the past eluded you of permanence/pleasure- well that I ( just like you ) see as not very humane.One should in fact traverse that very path again and again- till the time suffering dissolves as pleasure.Attitude and strength of character- that is what is reflected when it comes to traverse such a path. Moreover, making a mistake is fine- learning from it is also ok.But, if you are such a wise being, how come you live with a feeling of having lost a battle- I mean taking it personally, I will just go back their and keep on doing it,until I get it right !!
